How to use the Markdown editor

  1. Type or paste Markdown. Use the toolbar (or Ctrl/⌘+B and Ctrl/⌘+I) for bold, italic, links, lists, task lists and tables.
  2. Switch between Split, Write and Preview, or open the HTML tab to see the generated markup.
  3. Copy the Markdown or HTML, or export a .md file or a styled, standalone .html page. Your draft is saved in this browser.

Safe preview: no scripts, ever

Raw HTML in the Markdown is shown as text rather than rendered, links are limited to http(s), mailto, tel and relative URLs (so javascript: links are dropped), and the preview runs in a sandboxed frame that can't execute scripts. You can paste Markdown from anywhere without risk. The flip side: HTML tags like <details> or <br> won't render here even though GitHub allows some of them.

Line breaks

In standard Markdown a single line break is just a space; a blank line starts a new paragraph, and two trailing spaces or a backslash force a line break. GitHub comments treat every line break as a break — tick “Line breaks as <br>” to match that.

Frequently asked questions

Is my text saved or uploaded?

Your draft is saved only in this browser's local storage so it survives a reload. Nothing is sent to a server.

Is this GitHub-flavored Markdown?

Yes, the GFM basics: tables, task lists, strikethrough, fenced code blocks and autolinked URLs, plus heading anchors like GitHub's.

Why doesn't my HTML render in the preview?

For safety, raw HTML is escaped and shown as text. Use Markdown syntax instead, or paste the exported HTML into a page you control.

Can I export to PDF?

Export the .html file, open it in your browser and use Print → Save as PDF. It includes clean, readable styles.
