Dice Roller
Updated Free mock REST & WebSocket APIs
Roll any number of d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d100 dice — or type standard notation like 2d6+3. You get each die, the total, and the min, max and average for the roll.
🔒 Every die is rolled with crypto.getRandomValues and rejection sampling, so each face is exactly equally likely.
How to roll dice online
- Pick a die type, or type notation such as 4d6, 1d20+5 or 2d%.
- Set how many dice and any modifier to add or subtract.
- Press Roll. Each die is shown with the total; recent rolls are kept underneath.
Dice notation cheat sheet
| Notation | Meaning | Range | Average |
|---|---|---|---|
1d20 | One 20-sided die | 1–20 | 10.5 |
2d6 | Two six-sided dice, added | 2–12 | 7 |
3d6 | Classic ability score roll | 3–18 | 10.5 |
1d8+3 | One d8 plus 3 | 4–11 | 7.5 |
1d% / 1d100 | Percentile die | 1–100 | 50.5 |
The average of n dice with s sides is n × (s + 1) / 2, plus any modifier.
Why 7 is the most common 2d6 total
Two six-sided dice have 36 equally likely combinations. Six of them add up to 7 (1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2, 6+1), so 7 comes up 1/6 of the time, while 2 and 12 each need one exact combination (1/36, about 2.8%). Adding more dice pulls results toward the middle: 3d6 rolls a 3 or an 18 only 1 time in 216 each, while a d20 is flat, with a 5% chance for every face.

Frequently asked questions
Are the dice fair?
Yes. Each face is drawn with crypto.getRandomValues and rejection sampling, so every face has exactly 1/s probability — no physical die is that fair.
How many dice can I roll at once?
Up to 100 dice of 2 to 1,000 sides in a single roll. Large rolls show each result as a list instead of dice faces.
Does it support advantage or disadvantage?
Roll 2d20 and take the higher (advantage) or lower (disadvantage) of the two dice shown.
